I am looking to replace the strip light for my 20 gal Hagen freshwater planted aquarium. From side to side outside width is 24-1/8' and inside width is 23-1/2'. The ballast is starting to fail on my single bulb light. All the local pet stores sell a light/hood combination; but I don't need a new hood because I have glass sliding panels installed that work much better for me.

I was looking at a 24' FW Aqualight 65W for a replacement. Has anyone had experience with this product or a recommendation for something similar?

Do you have lots of live plants? if not, do NOT get the 65W unit. It is far too much light for a fish only tank. You will end up with pea soup for water and algae all over everything. Standard flourescents are much better for fish only tanks, especially small ones.
