I went to walmart the other day to look for fish tanks and they had a 29 gallon fish tank with every thing you need. FOR $97.I'm going to get it when my brother pays me my money back.

Before you buy, check out some of the other large stores like PETCO and Petsmart. Sometimes those places will special order an aquarium, or the manager may have a one of a kind. The ma and pa shops will also order aquariums. I mention this because you get more gallons per square foot of floor space with tall aquariums. For example, a 37 tall takes up the same floor space as a regular 29. The complete aquarium kits usually don't include a stand, gravel, etc., and you don't have a choice of filters. To save a little money, you can buy a new aquarium with just the light and hood, build your own stand, and install a cheap under gravel filter. The best choice though, for those of us with limited financial resources, is a yard sale aquarium. Lots of people sell off their aquariums dirt cheap because they can't figure out how to get the fish to live.

I hope you get your money back. My brother still owes me some wrenches he borrowed in 1957.

Also... If you check around the mom and pop shops... Sometimes they'll order something in for someone, who doesn't show up to pick it up.

Sometimes you can get a good deal on things like this.

Also the garage sales and things like that are a great place to look...

$170?

The petsmart near me had a sale not too long ago and were selling aquariums dirt cheap. I wouldn't go with a tall tank only because of the light factor, and the algae will grow more easily. I wouldn't really buy things from walmart, i do not trust their fish selections, so therefore i do not trust their products for the fish.

Aquariums are manufactured by a few companies and sold by many. The best deal is to buy aquariums at yard sales, that is if you're cheap and broke like me.

I agree with John on this one, but I also think that where ever I can pick up some glass, I'll get it.

The aquarium itself can come from almost anywhere... Wal-Mart, a discount store, a pet store... Where ever...

It's what you want out of it that takes you in a different direction...

If you want a sponge filter or an undergravel filter, then you'd have to decide if the price was right or not if the kit has a HOB...
