Hi and WELCOME!!
You are from Turkey?..and one of the largest cities at that...wow.
I am sure it is an interesting place to live!
First of all...make sure your tank is fully "cycled' before you add any fish. (zero ammonia, nitrites.and nitrAtes below 20)
In answer to your question, though..have you raised clown loaches? They can grow quite BIG...up to a foot actually.
So you may start out with a small tank
( sat 30 gal.)..but in time will need a much larger. Depending on how many
&( they prefer to be kept in groups of
3 or more)...at least a 55 US gal. is appropriate. Make sure you keep a lid on the tank..as they love to jump. Also..as far as real plants go..they are notorious for eating them..or basically tearing them up.
Clown loaches tend to get ICH fairly easiliy too..so keep a close eye out for that. Sometimes keeping the temp. around 80 degrees F will prevent that.
Hope maybe that answered some of your questions..and best of luck.
Am sure others may have some advice for you as well.
HAVE FUN!!

Welcome. I'd love to know more about the aquarium hobby in the ancient city of Istanbul. If you're just getting started, you will probably have better luck if you at first try raising some of the more common species like guppies. You can put two females and a male in a tank with plenty of floating plants and in a few months, you'll have a tank full. More important, you'll also learn about keeping aquarium fish before you invest in raising some of the more exotic species. In any case, I hope you will visit this website often and count on us for advice and suggestions.

Welcome I responded to your other post regarding the clown loaches. I completely agree with Dizzee. She has expanded on some things I mentioned as well as mentioned some important things I did not. You will definitely enjoy these entertaining fish.

hey welcome! clown loaches are one of my favorites. did you know they also eat snails? very good for planted aquariums to remove eggs and baby snails that are sometimes on plants when you buy them.

Okay.. I just have to share this story with ya all.
Sorry ..don't mean to hijack this post...but hope to maybe make ya laugh a bit.
THIS SHOULD GO UNDER THE WHAT NOT TO DO'S!!

A few years back my freind at the LFS called me and asked if I wanted a 55 gal. aquarium?..
cause a lady just came in and said it was free
if someone could pick it up within the hour.
The catch??..it still had water & gravel in it.
Soooo..I said.."sure"..and called
my son-in-law to help me haul it home..etc.
Well...we went to get this tank..and when we walked in.. the tank itself had no light.
It was pretty dark...and maybe that was a good thing..
..seeing it in good lightening would have made me even more .
Yeah...it was pretty bad.
My son-in-law and I just looked at each other when this lady said... " Yeah...sorry..it hasn't been cleaned in a VERY long time".
Sooo...we start siphoning this tank.
Get to where the rest has to be taken out in small scoops.
Now we are talking BROWN GUNKY slime!! ..and low and behold what do I find??
Yeah..a clown loach!!
The lady says...in great surprise!! ..
.." Hey honey...she found that clown !!..We been looking for that thing for a year..thought it was dead!"
(LOL..yeah?..well ya might have found it had ya cleaned the tank!!)
So I keep scooping away..and guess what?? ...
Yep..TRUE story...I find another one!! Seriously !!
.. I couldn't beleive these poor things SURVIVED
in all that

I had no idea clown loaches were so tough. Your experience with the free aquarium reminds me of a similar incident with two free aquariums. Made me wish I had a gas mask.

Yes they can. At least in my opinion. Many people are firm believers that angels should be kept with nothing but angels. I have no issues with that belief, however, I have three clown loaches in with mine and have no problems. Sometimes my male angel will chase them, but no one has come to any harm and the chasing is pretty half hearted for an angelfish. Clown loaches can reach twelve inches if you want them to, but most will reach around six inches in a 55 gallon aquarium. They really are fun fish and if you provide them with the security of several good hiding places they will be fine. They do like to have clean water and a large tank is a necessity when they get bigger.
