I got a rock caught in the cleaning magnets - now I have line I need 'buffed' out. Fortunately it's on the outside of the tank.
What are your experiences with repairing scratches in an acrylic tank? What product(s) did you use?
My tank is a Seaclear 55 gal.
Thanks in advance for your help

For fine scratches on the outside, you can use Novus 2 scratch remover paste. Novus 1 paste is for polishing.
For deeper ones you may have to use an acrylic scratch remover kit like the one TruVu sells (multiple grades of wet/dry sandpaper & foam block).
I've used both & both work well.

I've removed small scratches and deep gouges from acrylic. It's pretty simple.
If it's deeper than a human hair, you have to buff it out first using 1000 grit or finer *WET* sandpaper. Start with 1000 or 1500 and progress to 2500. Then you buff it using a liquid polishing compound. Some people use Novus(sp?) but I used Zymol car polish. If it's a fine scratch, just use the polishing compound - no need to use sandpaper.
good luck!

I've gotten some scratches on the inside of my tank. I've heard that there are some underwater kits, but my LFS says that there isnt any, including the lifegaurd aquatics they sold, which I've heard is used under water. They said no way. Is there anything I can use to without draining the tank first?
