I have bought play sand from Home Depot and have rinsed it many times.

I added it to my 10 gallon fish tank but the water is still cloudy.

How long will it take for the sand to settle down?

with in a few hours it settles down, but you should not provide fish then. provide dechlorination and some medicines before put fishes.

It can take a while. Usually it should be clear within 24 hours. It really depends on how much you rinsed and how big the floating particulates are. It will definitely clear for you though.

Welcome to our forum.

The sand will probably settle sooner if the water is not too turbulent. Please be sure to let the aquarium cycle before you add fish.

The sand should settle. I had the same problem with some Tahitian moon sand I bought. It seems the best way to have the least amount of floating particulate matter is to just rinse it out really good and I mean REALLY good the first time before you put it in the aquarium. You may want to stick to slow moving fish because fast, finicky fish can kick up a sandstorm.
Oooh.......fish
