I have the usual filter and I also have an air line to help put oxygen into the tank. Should I turn the air line off overnight or do people leave them on all the time. Any advice would be appreciated Thanks Frank

Airlines and bubbles in the tank are for decorative purposes only. The tank is fine without air bubbles. So I guess the point is to run it whenever you feel like it. Motion in the water from your filter return provides more than adequate oxygen to the environment. A co2 injector would take care of any

That completely depends on the setup and the aquarium. Some aquariums, true, bubbles are just to look at; but there's applications, especially in heavily planted or decorated tanks, where the airstones prevent stratifying in the water. In very tall tanks, like corner hex setups, this is important, too. All the water needs to be moving around a bit.
