I just bought a pair of albino paradise gourami and the one is beating the crap out of the other. It looks as tho there are scales missing from the ones side from the other ramming and nipping it. Any suggestions?

This sounds like a good question for John. He keeps albino paradise fish too. I think it is likely that you have two males. The only thing I can suggest for now is to separate them and treat the injured on with aquarium salt and 1 tablespoon for every five gallons. Hope this helps and sorry to hear about your trouble.

I'm down to one pair of albino paradise fish, and they keep acting like they want to spawn. Male paradise fish are not as aggressive as male Bettas, but they're pretty grumpy. The females have shorter fins and a fat tummy. Like Megan said, you probably have two males. They should do OK in a larger aquarium.

The one is significantly bigger then the other and the larger has more flowing fins. Is that the way to tell the sex? Unfortunately the only other tank I have is a chiclid tank so moving him over there would surely mean death.

It sounds like you have a pair. For now, just give the female plenty of hiding places (plants and decorations). If you want them to spawn, you'll need some floating plants where the male can build a bubble nest. After spawning, the female should be removed, and the male should too after the fry are free swimming. Paradise fish can be housed in smaller aquariums.

Do they usually do harm to their mates? Maybe they are dysfunctional haha. Thanks
