well also I did a report on angelfish.. Here goes nothing.

Angelfish

Scientific Name: Pterophyllum Scalare
Family: Cichlid
Temperature: 24 - 30 C; 75 - 86 F
PH 6.0 - 8.0
Size: 9 cm; 3.5 inches
Life Span: 15 years
Breeding: Normal, Egg Layer

I have two angelfish at my house in a 150g tank. I'm not sure of their gender or species but ones gold and white and the others black and silver and they pretty amazing. I've had them for quite some time now and they've created almost a bond together. This really worries me and I hope there both the opposite gender. They always stay side by side or one goes away and then comes back.I've name the gold one Foozle and the black one Fozzie. For no particular reason I just thought the names fit.

The freshwater Angelfish is a very popular tropical fish because of its unique shape and because of their interesting personalities. Angelfish are aggressive eaters and will go to the top of the tank when they see you approach. Because of their aggressive feeding habits, make sure that your less aggressive fish are getting their share around feeding time. However, not all angelfish are aggressive eaters. The pair I own seem not to be aggressive at all.

Angel fish are curious about their environment and can become very territorial, especially around breeding time. They will pair off and if any other fish tries to enter their territory they will go after them. I have noticed recently as I have been adding different fish to the tank and new decorations that they have become quite territorial and very rarely snip at other fish.

They are not very picky about their appetite. They will go after many types of fish food, including vitamin enriched flakes, frozen, freeze dried and live foods. I guess anything you put in the tank if they're hungry enough. Also, in the wild angelfish eat sponge. Sponge have a nasty almost enamel-like coating that tastes very bad. Apparently angelfish do something with their jaws and bite past the outer layer and into a softer more tasteful membrane.

There must be hundreds even maybe thousands of different species of angelfish.
Below I have listed some of the more common ones.

The Silver Angelfish
The Gold Angelfish
The Zebra Angelfish
The Chocolate Angelfish
The Halfback Angelfish
The Silver Gold Marble Angelfish
The Marble Angelfish

Freshwater angelfish have been my favorites for a long time, although keeping them happy is not always easy. A spawning pair needs their own aquarium. If you look in the blog about distinguishing angelfish gender, it may help you tell whether you have a pair. Our admin also posted a picture of an Altum Angelfish at the top of the blog.
