Aquac Skimmers

Anybody have any experience with these. I am looking for the best. Marine depot recommends these over the EuroReef's

They are both good skimmers. Which model are you looking at or do the recommend over the Euro Reef models?

Aqua C EV series Aqua C Remors or ??

I personally have the CS6-1 and just bought a CS8-2 and they pull tons of stuff out of the water I've never had a Aqua C but have heard good things about them also.

Do a search on www.reefcentral.com forums for the Aquac and it will get you lots of answers...

I am currently running a EuroReef CS-1, an AquaC Remora, and an AquaC Remora Pro on various tanks. I would go with EuroReef hands down if I had a sump on the tank. The only reason I see to use a Remora or Remora Pro would be in sumpless applications where they are the best of a bad lot.

The EuroReef is constructed much *much* heavier duty, and pulls tons of skimmate. Every time I service one of the Remoras I worry about breaking it, and the skimmate is nowhere near the quality I get with the EuroReef. The preskimmer boxes are a pain, and they have to be dismantled and cleaned way too often.

I got my EuroReef as a 'blem' from http://www.h2otropicals.com for nearly $100 less than retail and cannot even *find* the blemish. Upon checking I see that the site is under reconstruction- it is definitely worth checking around to see when they will reopen.

All I've ever owned were Aqua C skimmers until recently. The EV-series skimmers are easy to use and easier to clean than a Euroreef. Over the years I've helped others with their tanks and handled a few of the ER skimmers.

John, if you can find a used Aqua C EV skimmer, you'll save a lot of money. As long as it isn't cracked or broken, you can clean it up like new. The only thing to go wrong at that point would be the pump, which is replaceable.

ER's are consdidered the best of the skimmers, by the majority.

Currently, I'm running a Remora Pro on my son's tank. I used to run a Remora on my own 29g reef. No complaints, they did the job well. On my 280g reef, I'm running a Lifereef skimmer that is running well.

Not to support ripping people off, but there *are* ER knock-off's that even use the same Sedra needle-wheel pump, which is really the key to the ER's excellence.
