Now and then, we doddering old geezers get invited to go back to school. Actually, this was a preschool for kids just learning how to read. Much to my relief, the kids were not there, but a dirty 30 aquarium was. It started with a turtle, two mollies and two goldfish. The turtle had been moved, but the fish all had quite a bit of missing finage. The water was cold with a small amount of ammonia and a large amount of nitrite. It had not been cycled, so I replaced a bucket or two of water and donated a large gob of hornwort. The aquarium is supposed to get another water change before the week end, and one mollie is going back home. If none of that works, I'll probably get expelled from preschool. Oh well, I hated kindergarten anyhow.

Wow! Way to go helping them out like that John!

Turtles do not make anything a good tank mate... They'll tear up and eat anything they can catch, and they're the dirtiest little suckers you've ever seen!

We have 2 Red Eared Sliders... Boogie and Squirt. They're so nasty! They came home from Myrtle Beach with us 2 or 3 years ago.

They have a good home, and they're growing rapidly.

When i was a kid in Indiana, you could dip them out of lakes with a fish net or buy them, shell painted, from the five and dime after the war.

I don't really want to think about that... I think my daughter HAD to have them, and they were like $20 each... And only a tiny bit larger than quarters...

Of course... I've blow those numbers out of the water with some of the fish that I've bought.. LOL!

Some of the large pet shops and on line stores sell reptiles. You may even find what you're looking for aquabid.com.

Some other places are petsolutions.com, thatpetplace.cpm, petsmart.com, and more I don't remember. You could also Google the turtle and find all kinds of sources. Of course, some species are considered endangered or dangerous to turn loose on the environment, so they may not be available. When it comes to invasive species, check out some of the earlier posts about snakehead fish. Please let us know if you find the illusive albino turtle.

That is a pretty cool thing you did John! Good for you(and the fishies). A reputable breeder of most anything will have feedback from buyers on their website. Definitely ask around though. You never know what other people know.

I had a great turtle for sale website bookmarked before my vista crashed...

Now it's all cleaned out... I'll see if I can find it. Someone recommended it to me...

HA! It was easy to find... it's http://www.turtlesale.com/home/

Good Luck!
