I know this is a poor picture, but what is your best guess on what type of set up this is. Does it look like salt water to you? Do you think there are rocks in there or is it just the background that I am seeing? I found this for sale for a super low price including everything. I am waiting to hear back from the owner. I am excited, but maybe it is already sold. So give me your best guesses!

Looks like no gravel to me.

Some people just like the saltwater background.

From the picture I don't see any down tubes... Like filters and such...

It has a nice light... Kinda reminds me of an eclipse, but that looks like a big tank, and I've never seen an eclipse that big... Doesn't mean they're not out there...

Now... that being said... it kinda looks like a saltwater type light... But it doesn't stand up off the tank either...

Well... if it isn't drilled, it could be either... If it's super cheap... Get it NO MATTER WHAT!!!!

LOL!!! MTS RULES MY ENTIRE BODY!!!!

David got up this morning to find me looking at that wall of tanks for sale in Oklahoma... 400 gallons each... Hmmmmm...

If it's only 37 gallons... depends on what comes with it... Although... That looks like a nice light!

If it is saltwater... Ask them how old the bulbs are... Over a year, from what I read they need to be replaced...

Of course... I'm pretty hateful when it comes to buying tanks... LOL... I don't like to pay more than $1.00 a gallon... And I don't really need wood stands... I'll only buy it with a stand if it's a metal stand that I can put another tank underneath.

I already have one wood stand that is taking up room under my 40 gallon... But it was the first tank... LOL!!!

But you might like the wood stand, so then you can factor that into the cost also... It would be a better deal if it came with filters and air pumps and surge strips and... LOL!!!

Good Luck!

well it is set up and running right now I can see the water in the tank and what looks to be a yellow fish. And they say everything is included. So that must mean filters etc.

I didn't see the fish before...

That's an awfully bright yellow spot...

My eyes aren't as good as they could be. But if that's a saltwater tank, man that's a good price...

I'm getting excited too!

Keep us posted!

I know this is just terrible the waiting and waiting (it has only been an hour or so LOL) now I have never had a salt tank before I am sure I could do it but I would have tons to learn in a very short time. Also I live about 2 hours away from where this is for sale (but then again I live far away from everything) moving it might get really tricky

It looks like a saltwater tank, but it can be converted to freshwater if you want. Here's my two cents worth about tanks and stands.

I have three, 37 gallon tall glass aquariums all purchased on sale at Petsmart. I can't remember the exact price but am pretty sure it was less than a hundred bucks. The tanks also had fluorescent hoods. In Phoenix, there are lots of used aquariums for sale, and a dollar a gallon is expensive. The most costly part of setting up a used aquarium is the gravel. Many used tanks come with hoods, and i make all the stands in my sawdust shop. If you want a double decker wood stand, just make it tall and wide enough to accommodate the bottom tank. Then lay some 2 by 4s flat and screw them to the bottom of the legs. A sheet of 3/4 inch plywood over the flat pieces will hold all the weight the floor can.

The aquarium in the picture appears to be an acrylic with an all in one hood. They're very expensive new, so you're probably getting a good price. On the other hand, if the built in filter stops working, how do you repair it? The cheapo under gravel filters are easier to deal with, and they work fine if you do regular, partial water changes and don't over populate the aquarium.

That was more than two cents, and everybody has their own way of keeping aquariums. One way is probably no better than another; it all depends on circumstances. Happy MTS, and let us know what you decide.
