i have a mail betta and he has spots on his head that seem like the skin was scraped off.
there pinkish like flesh. I feel really bad. could this be from swimming too close to the surface w/ the lights right there? Or something more serious?

Unless they're really powerful lights, that's not the problem. Are there other fish in the aquarium? Bettas move slowly and are an ideal target for fin nippers, who don't confine their nipping to fins.

there's a female betta and neon tetra. the female shows no signs of being aggressive.
there was a rock cave kinda thing but i took it out thinking this was the problem but it seems to e getting worse little by little.

there is a parasite that will cause open wound on a betta. I'm not neccesarily saying thats for sure it but it could be a parasite. you might want to look into that but thats the only thing i can think of really!
