Okay, so what's your community tank? size and type of fishies? I figure that's where you have your platys? Not that we can fit anybody else into our 29 gallon but we were told not to put a betta in there because it was too big a tank and it wouldn't be happy with the other fish. Of course, I didn't get that info here so I didn't really trust it. But I also didn't come here to double check.

My tank is a 20g. It might be slightly overstocked, but I keep on track of it well enough it seems to be ok (well, minus the parasite-but we won't get into that).

My tank has:
2 julii cory cats
1 male blue crowntail betta
1 female high-fin blue platy
1 female sunburst platy
1 male sunburst wag platy
2 (male and female) painted platy
2 (male and female) golden twinbar platy

A betta is usually ok in a larger community tank as long as the current is low (long fins make swimming difficult), there are plenty of plants for him to rest on and to block the current, the betta is relatively non-agressive (as much as a betta can be), and none of the other fish are fin-nippers. Obviously, only one betta per tank.

Well, I don't know from overstocked. Even though I tried to maintain some sanity there our numbers somehow kept growing. So I'm sure we're over the limit.

I think we'd have a problem with current. It seems to move the fish around pretty well. Which I think they like. It's almost like they play in it. But prolly not good for a betta. Oh well. Maybe some day I can figure something out. Lots of time to experiment and make changes.

Those Bettas are remarkable. (Guys aren't supposed to say stuff like gorgeous.) Anyhow, i just retired four desk top aquariums; maybe their retirement will be short lived.

I saw one that almost entirely green, it was awesome. I'd love to have one like that, but for one fish, they are beyond my budget.

Pure white bettas, yellow and the black ones are my favorite! I want some. (Although I do like the ones that are red/white/blue )

See, my favorite are the halfmoons and overhalfmoons with the white around the edges of the fins, especially the blue ones.
