I bought 3 black skirt tetras today two females and a male. does anyone know how long it takes for them to breed?

hello i have 5 black skirt tetra , they very hard to breed in aquarium you need the right ph at breeding time and you also need a planted aquarium and i believe you need more than 3 as they like being in groups of 5 or more

How do you distinguish gender in those tetras?

The males are much darker. mostly around the anal fin. however as seen in some fish they change colors when there nervous or scared or startled. So just make some daily observations on what color it mostly is.
