Years back I bought some KOI angels from Doug at Northstarangels..and was very pleased. He's a great guy if anyone wants to know..and all his angels are super healthy.
Anyway..I have really wanted to find a pretty male angel for a female black lace veil that a friend of mine
( Kathi ~ Bubbles) gave me a few months ago. She needs someone to spawn with. Seems I have mostly females now ( other than my already formed pairs).
So..last night I went looking on Northstars web-site. What happened though.. I saw these small juvienille blue blushers & his "new" baby koi..so I couldn't resist. I bought a few. Only two of each variety..but excited none the less.
He also said he had a few mature males for me to choose from...so I bought a Gld. marble pearlscale. It is also a veil. Should makes some pretty babies ~
Gld. marbles, Hybrid blacks & silvers.
Seems lately I should just quit saying I am gonna do this or that..cause I remember saying I wasn't going to do any more angels..and just stick with those I have.(already have 15 adult) That sure didn't last long did it??
They are all being shipped Monday...so once they are all acclimated & such...I will post pic.'s ...okeedokee??

I'm not real sure... but shouldn't be too much. You are fairly near Minnesota (which is where they are coming from)..and I live in Illinois.
Here is his web-site..take a look. http://www.northstarangelfish.com/

Oh..and in answer to how many?
I bought...four juvies & one adult male.

Hi guys..yep..they are all here.
I took some pic.'s yesterday..but now my camera says.."LOW BATTERY"
..so I can't upload them onto the computer. I am going out today to get some more batteries..then I will get some pic.'s for you guys.
The juvies have done great.
They ate like little pigs this morning.
The adult male is a bit stressed though..and didn't eat this morning. I am hoping it is just from the shippping..and he will perk up here. I contacted Doug..and asked him about any advice??
I added some AQ salt..and the parameters all check out great.
My PH is a bit higher than his..
but I acclimated this big guy for an hour..so not sure what else to do? What are your thoughts..anyone?
I am happy with them all...and they all are really pretty.
Oh..and while I was doing all this stuff with the new arrivals..one of my old pairs that I THOUGH were through laying eggs... ( my Zebra SV~ pearlscale)..and remember my Mr. Darcy? ( Gld. marble?)..well they spawned. I pulled the eggs since they are in a commmnity tank with a bunch of other angels. Soooo..guess another tank set-up is in order. How is it that I down-size..and it NEVER seems to last???...LOL!! ::

If you get a few extra rechargeable batteries and a charger, you'll never run out of direct current for the camera. Sorry, that's the tree hugger in me talking.

It's odd that the larger angelfish would have more trouble acclimating than the little ones. Maybe the plastic bag seemed more confining to him. Somewhere I also read that you should turn out the light for a while after you add new fish. At any rate you know he was healthy; he'll probably get over the moving shock pretty soon. If I were to order fish or plants shipped to Phoenix at this time of year, they would arrive cooked. The delivery services with the temperature controlled warehouses don't say much about the 150 degree cargo boxes on their trucks. Of course, that applies only to the hot summer months here in the desert.

Can't wait to see the pictures.

How is the big guy doing today? We have had fish shipped to us. Like the koi pairs we bought a couple of months ago, one pair came with no bag buddies and they did just fine, but they were big healthy fish, it took them about 2 or 3 days to start coming and greeting us. The second pair it was touchy for days if the female would even make it, and the health I don't think is as good. This pair came in separate bags but the breeder used bag buddies. Now we have also had pea sized koi shipped to us, and it is like they are not even fazed by the shipment, they acclimate and eat..and are just fine. So who knows? I think the larger the fish the more stress. It might also depend on how it was caught and chased and how long before it was shipped. The last batch of pea sized came by UPS and the truck is not air conditioned and the box was hot and they were still fine.

Karen (Let's see pictures... I should take some too1)

I got a reply back from Doug..and this is pretty normal.
I turned the lights off. He is acting fine now.
I am going to let him adapt a bit more..before I try and snap pictures..but I promise..I will post some soon.
It is more stressful for the older angels..since this is something totally out of the norm. for him.
The juvies haven't been around long enough to be effected so much by sudden changes in their environment.
Anyways..I DID take a video of the little juvies.
Once again..I got two koi & blue blushers. I ordered two ofthe BB's..but he gave me three!!
Here's the video folks..(click on pic. to view)..hope ya enjoy!!

Great video -- love all of your angels... how large is the tank? How many angels? Your not breaking your own rules are you... one per 10? Just kidding you..
Nice koi -- good coverage. Even though that is the new look, we have the two pair and I think I like the ones like our picture the best.

Thanks guys...
I do have to be honest..
I am breaking the 1 per 10 gallon rule.
Only reason is that these little juvies are only maybe nickel size ( one of them is only dime)....so figure it will be fine.
Once they get a bit larger though..they will go
to a different tank.
This particular tank is a 55 gallon.

These little juvies are hilarious to watch.
I dropped a frozen brine cube in the tank tonight...and as the adults went after it (in a food frenzy..LOL )...those little ones joined right in. Not a one of them hung back..
...it was just too cute.

Thanks Leah...
When I had Sugar & Spice ( my black blusher & panda Koi)..they actually produced some blue blushers. I should of kept a few. I honestly hardly see them in at the LFS...but then I hardly see anything other than blacks with ocassional silvers. One day maybe these would pair off ( if I am lucky)...wouldn't that be great??
Oh..and another thing...
I guess I should post this on my thread about my new adult male ~ Tobias.
TOOTSIE must be very happy with him...
as her tube is already coming down..ain't that COOL??

Wow that is fast if she is already showing her tube... The second pair of koi that we bought the one on the top of the pictures I put out not the ones that we use as our photo the female is now starting to show her tube but still not sure if the other is really a male yet or we were sold a pair of breeders that were not proven, time will tell. The spawn from our first koi pair is doing good only have about 25 or so white eggs, they should be wigglers by tomorrow if all is well.

Have fun with your new angels, don't they have the neatest personalities and each breed is so different. We have tanks every where and all of the angels act so different.

Have a great weekend everyone!
