Being an angelfish nut, I can't help much with algae eaters, but I can suggest looking them up on Google. To be healthy, most aquarium fish require certain water parameters, so a little research will go a long way.

Water parameters are chemistry and temperature. You can buy cheap or expensive water test kits, but you can't test everything unless you're a chemist. Most kits test things like water hardness, pH (acidity), nitrates, and nitrites. You can also get an inexpensive kit to test for ammonia, which is probably the most important parameter. Measurable amounts of ammonia will kill fish. Read up on the nitrogen cycle to find more on the workings of aquarium chemistry.

Since I'm a real idiot when it comes to computers, I have trouble accessing photographs. Maybe I'll ask the administrator what the secret is.

As for test kits, I use the simple 5 in 1 test strips and an ammonia kit with reagents. If you use the strips, be sure to keep the bottle tightly closed and the strips perfectly dry before you actually dip one in the aquarium. The ammonia kit has a small test tube and a couple vials of chemicals. You take a sample of aquarium water, add so many drops of each reagent, shake everything, and wait to see what color you get. My suggestions are to read the directions very carefully, and don't over react if you get less that perfect readings. High ammonia can usually be eliminated by a series of partial water changes, and non chemical alternatives are available for improving other water parameters. You can even list test results on this forum.

Aside from being a lousy photographer, my camera has too many mega pixels or whatever, and I always have to crop the things. I'm thinking of buying one of those cheap web cameras.
