I have several mollies in my 30 gallon. A couple reg black females, a marble lyretail male, a pair of creamcycle lyretails, and a pair of dalmation lyretails. My creamcycle had about 16 fry over a month ago. Two of the uneaten are completely orange like the mother, and two are orange with black on their bodies and fins. The one's with black are noticably larger than the plain two. Is it possible she mated with my Marble male? He and the creamcycle male have high fin dances over her.
Am I going to have a tank full of hybrid Mollies? Is that possible?
Another question, she had her last batch of fry over a month ago, and looks quite large. I thought they could have fry every 26 days. Can they hold them longer? My water levels are fine, ph 8, all fish seem happy.

I think that all mollies sold for aquariums started from the same species of fish, so all of the many variations are related and can interbreed. True hybrids cannot reproduce. Female mollies can get very large, but if one is bloated to the point where the scales viewed from the top resemble a pine cone, then she is sick. If she appears healthy, nature will take care of the rest.
Although mollies are fairly common aquarium fish, they do have a few special requirements. You can research them on Google or in fish magazines.
