hey everyone i was given a filter from someone and im not sure where to put the carbon rocks i have a tetra air filter i beleive it connects to the back of the tank and water flows thoughr the black and filter catridges and on the other part of the filter the water gets sucked up and stuff i ended up buying a rena smart filter one of the newest models for my tank but if i can get some help and i can use this filter and hookup my ten galon for a goldfish fro my nephew thanks

Have you tried looking up the model online? Sometimes you can find instructions for the filter that way. My guess is if you don't have cartridges for it that have carbon you could get on of those meshed media bags, put the rocks in it and stick it in the back of your filter. Hope that helps. Also, carbon is not really necessary. It is used to remove minerals, toxins, and medication from the water. The same thing can be done with water changes which you would need to do with a goldfish anyway since they are a dirty fish. Hope this helps.

I cheat...

Whenever I get a filter with a tank... I just throw it into a bucket and haul it in to the LFS and ask Greg.

He fixes me up. I always get the bags that have the clips on the top... Then I can clean them out and reuse them over and over.
