i went to petsmart to buy some water condition tests and i asked the lady there for help, and she said " why waste your money? just bring in a water bottle of your tank water in and we will test it for you for free."

it saved me about 30 dollars :]

they test for ammonia and PH and nitrate and so on. pretty much everything.

so if you want to save money on all that stuff you should see if your local petsmart does that too.

p.s. my tank is 100% better and all of my fish are healthy and there fins are healing! and one of my females is even pregnant now!
thanks for everyone's help!!!!

Thanks for keeping us updated. I'm glad your fish are better.

Many aquarium shops will do free water tests, but they will now and then try to sell you water chemistry treatments. Many of the so called fixes will work under just the right conditions, but even when they do they are usually just masking the real problem. Good aquarium maintenance, including regular partial water changes, will help you avoid most problems. Have you checked out any of the on-line aquarium supply stores? Although they charge shipping, there is usually no tax, and the prices are low. They sell all sorts of water test kits, and the inexpensive ones work OK for most of us.

Good luck, and please keep in touch.
