Is it chlorine or chloramine that's the problem? If it's chlorine, just aerate the water well and the chlorine will evaporate within hours. If it's chloramine, you'll need to take the chemical route to remove it. Can't think of any products to remove it but someone here will know. levittd

Go to the LFS & buy some de-chlorinator. Make sure you are dealing with Chlorine & not Chloramine (ask the water company)- if its the latter then there are de-chlor agents specifically for it. The LFS should know what the local water company uses.

NH3/NH4 (sodium thiosulfate) removes both chlorine and chloramine. In chloramine, two chloride ions are bound to each ammonia molecule, so double the amount of NH3/NH4. It's also called 'hyop' - used for developing B&W photos, but you would have to ask if any photo finish hardening agents were added. If so, you can't use it. Another place you can get it - a wine-making supplyer. I will cost you a little more there, but nothing like you would pay at a pet

I have always just placed the water in the sun for a day. It can be a pain if you have a large tank to fill.

A bottle of dechlorinater there are loads on the market but get one that does chlorine and chloramine like Ammo-lock.
