I'm using those bulbs on an old hood that previously held 2 incandescent bulbs and they work well.

The 5000K version would work well in terms of the light spectrum. The question is how big a tank you are talking about. Depending on your tank length, you might find it cheaper to just go with the standard tubes. They are especially cheap in the T8, 4' versions. For that long a tank it would take quite a few small bulbs to get reasonably even lighting.
There also seems to be a better selection of water-resistant socket assemblies for the typical aquarium tube sizes.

I bought a couple flourescent bulbs with normal incandescent bases, and it gives off a ton of light. Right now I'm only using one on my 10-gallon - two was just too bright and the algae bloomed like crazy.
