hi everyone, i havent been online for a while been really busy but i have a question for everyone,... i have a corydora that i got a long time ago, i think its a Black-Venezuela Corydora, the odd thing is that this cory is nocturnal and about 4 or 5 inches long (about 12cm) im trying to find out exactly what species it is, do corydoras get that big? i have another julii and 2 pandas but those are about 2 inches max. this one was bought at the same time. any ideas?

That guy looks more like an exotic type of Plecostomus than a Corydoras Catfish. Does he have a sucker type mouth? If so, it's a pleco. The Venezuelan cory cat looks like a regular one, and i haven't been able to find a cory that looks like that picture. Maybe if you had the Latin name we could Google it.

That's the thing he doesn't have a sucker, he doesn't have theet but he goes around the middle of the tank and every once in a while goes to the bottom and looks for food, but doesn't srick to anything like the placos, or my chinese algae eater. The closest thing I found online to it was that one. I found thid link but no pics http://www.piranha-info.com/default.php?lang=en& id=c_black_venezuela

Thank you so much Mr. Jahjenwa I think you hit it right on the money. I always like to do my reasearch and I was wondering why it got so big, I don't mind because by the time he's out and about most all my tetras and guppies are aside resting and with him my adf and kuhli loaches out my aquarium changes completly at night and makes it that much better. But know that I know what he is I can make sure he's well taken care off. And thanx to Achintya and John, good to hear from you guys again. Ill have to catxh up with all of you. I also see a lot of new members that's good!

I'm doing some reaserch on this gguy, but I wanted to know if anyone has had any experience with them. Will he eat any of my neons while they sleep, or any of my cherry shrimp?

HI -I had this fish for two years.then it outgrew my tank. so i gave it to a fish store. this is actually a shy fish and seems aggresive due to size. it can be aggresive towards something like a golden algae eater, but against any other bottom feeder like cory dora. it hardly ever bothers a non-bottom feeder. i have had neons and shrimps too and never had any issues. i think it is a beautiful fish. you can feed it anything that typically an algae eater or pleco would eat. it can even survive on shrimp pellets ---food for cory dora. occasionally i would throw in algae wafers and raw zuchini....hope this helps. a picture of my old pal is below.....

Love the picture! That's a great color and it is a great fish one of my favs, mine is about 5" big now and I've had him for about a year got him at about 2". He's never given me any problems but I just wanted to be sure. I've had some baby cherries and its been good so far but that helps me feel better about it. Thanx so much!!
