Iv read that they do, at least i hope they do im off to buy a crown loach tomorrow as im over run with snails. went away on holliday and came back yesterday when i left i had atleast 4 snails in my tank now there is over 15.
If the crown loach dont work im going to try putting in some lettuce in the tank see if that works, fingers crossed.

Clown loaches and other fish do eat snails, but they never entirely eliminate them. Make sure all the snail eaters are compatible with the rest of the fish in the aquarium. A good alternative is the lettuce lure. Cut the white part from the lettuce leaf, and let it (the white part) float in the aquarium for a couple of days. Actually that should be two nights because many snails are nocturnal. Swiss chard and other vegetables also work as snail lures. When the leaf is full of snails, drop it into the garden or the trash, but do not release snails into the wild. Snail baiting needs to be repeated, but it's an easy way to control snail populations. Snails in reasonable numbers are actually good for an aquarium.

My clown loach ate every one of my snails. That was my intention in getting him.
