So every night when the lights go out more neons disappear in my tank with no trace. First in was 2 black neons, then it was 2 more black neons and last night it was a staggering 1 black and 3 reg neons. My tank as of now has gouramis, kuhli loaches, and dianos in it. Can the gouramis be eating them? I have looked in my filter and in an under all the deco in the tank with no sign. I'm stumped. It has to be the gouramis right? There is no way they got out the top. My tank is fully enclosed.

It depends on how big your Neons are. If they are miniscule compared to the Gourami, they probably got eaten. I have 6 Black Neons and they are a good size for neons and they live with 6 Gouramis. Also, how often do you feed your fish? The Gouramis may have eaten the Neons as a last resort if they weren't fed accordingly.

Most aquarium fish relish live food, not to mention compatible tankmates.

Probably because the big fish just figured out they can eat the little fish. If they all grew up together, the little guys may not have been viable food items at first. If the Neons were healthy and if they didn't jump out, it has to be predation. Lots of aquarists prefer single species tanks; they have no species compatibility problems, and the water parameters can be adjusted for only one kind of fish. If you're not sure about compatibility, you can Google the common or Latin name of the fish and get more details than you need.
