I'm definately not a discus expert, but I thought if I was going to get some, I'd get them from Jack Wattley.
He's got them as cheap as $30.00 each, of course the freight is $70.00 so you need to get several to absorb that...
You thinking about getting some?

Discus need some very special care and conditions. If you look through Aquabid, you may find a seller close to your location. A little drive could save shipping cost.

Many fish and plants cost less on Aquabid, because the vendors do not have to pay for a store front.

My local fish store will not get in any discus.
He discussed selling them if I raised them... but he said he wouldn't get any in, since people wouldn't keep the temperature correct, and tried to make them community fish, which doesn't work, then people want them replaced... Which can get expensive.
He has taken some in when people tear down tanks. They're really tempting, but now and then I miss a water change, and from what I understand, discus aren't very forgiving in that instance.
