DISCUS ABOUT DISCUS

discus is the most expensive and beautiful of all fishes in any aquarium tank. to maintain discus community tank is  not so easy.there are some rules and regulations to maintain discus tank.who ever not spell bound to see a discus community aquarium.i have my discis tank for 3 yrs.now a days i only concentrate only this discus fish.here i am going to tell about some does and dont’s of discus tank…..

1.discus loves community,the best way to keep a good and healthy discus tank is to keep at least min of 4 discus.more the no of discus fish u keep more they schooling,more that will be fascinating.

2.for discus tank,the growth of discus is very important.so that u should keep all discus of same size i.e.  if you keep 1 discus of 2 inch size you should keep all discus of that 2 inch size,because if u keep 1 2inch size and others are 4 or 5inch then the bigger discus can obviously take most of the  food,and the smaller one can’t take the food and that smaller one can die with in a few days. i have a personal experience about that..i lost one of my discus due to that.

3.for my personal experience i see that discus loves”tetra bits” as feedings,prev i gave them live worm but whenever i gave them tatra bits they only take this food.i feed them twice per day.they know the time when i give them food,and that time they all come near the aquarium.discus is always a master loving fish.but it is also important not to give them over food.

4.water and ph condition is obviously important.the ph level should be 7 and do 20 % water change in every week.the ammonia and nitrate level should always be 0.

5.for a discus community aquarium one should keep some bottom feeders like Cory,clown louche etc.

6.it is important to say that discus don’t tolerate high power filtering system and they may die due to that.so the best way to keep discus along with an external or biological filter.

7.i forget to mention you that discus community aquarium should be min of 4 ft size. many conventional rules say that 10 gallons for 1 discus fish.the bigger will be the tank the more easier they move so that it’s easier to growth.

8.discus can need high temp.they need 30 deg Cecilius temp.in this high temp most of plants don’t live ,there are some plants that can survive with this high temp.that plants are amazon or echinodorous,anubias,anacharis etc.

9.discus don’t live with some fishes like mono angels,Senegal etc.they best live with angels,neon tetra,because they are also schooling type fish so discus can school to see their schooling..
