I would like to get a dwarf gourami for the aquarium that I have right now. In the aquarium I have mollies, zebra's and, neon's.

I heard Blue gourami's can be a bit more aggressive than fire mouths. What kind of dwarg gourami can you advise me to get for my aquarium.

Thanks

I think it just depends on the fish personality. But yes, my Cobalt is a meanie to his OWN kind. I have him in the tank with my Harlequin Rasboras, and the only time he bothers them is to butt them out of the way so he can hog all of the food. He never bothers the loaches. I have heard that they are far more territorial to their own kind than other fish though. I have one of the regular red DG's and he is a super sweetheart!

Most Dwarf Gouramis, including the redder varieties, tend to be peaceful, and they stay small enough for medium sized aquariums. However, the females are not very colorful, so lots or aquarium shops sell only males. Without females to pester, the males could exhibit strange behaviors (don't we all ). You can buy pairs at a few aquarium shops and through Aquabid.com. Dwarf Gouramis also tend to be on the delicate side, so be sure they get the correct water parameters.

i have 4 dwarf gouramis, 2 red and 2 blue. i started with 2 males they were fine with all my fish even the little neons althought rarely interacted with each other and when they did they were abit nippy. i got 2 females and now all 4 are together most of the time with no nipping at each other. i would definatly reccomend these fish in a community tank.

I have 1 blue+ 1 red dwarf gourami in my tank they are very quiet natured I also have mollies, zebra and neons in my mix of fish My dwarf gourami's never bother any of my other fish
Where as my large Gold gourami is forever getting fits where he decides chasing everything that moves by him is fun In particular my gold gourami picked on my dwarf blue gourami but never injured him.
At first my dwarf blue started loosing colour because of stress, but now is clever enough to use his size+agility to loose the gold gourami mid chase
If you do get dwarf gourami you might want stay away from "norm" size gourami in future purchases Some research says its in their nature to bully the dwarf gourami's
On the other hand I have two "norm" size 3Spot gourami's and they have never bothered any other fish in my tank...
So I'd say deffo go for the dwarf gourami
The dwarf blue is in my experience more shy than the dwarf red
Best of luck! Let us know what you decide, perhaps you'll end up getting both... Then if they do chase, they'll prob only chase each other

I had the opposite problem with my DG's lol! The blue one is mean and the red one is shy a nice. Well, not so shy anymore now that he is in the 75G with only one other fish haha!
