I have a hang on the back 70 gallon filter on my 39 gallon tank. The Filter has three parts, foam block, carbon bag and ammonia remover bag. The tank has been established for over a year and I just replaced the ammonia remover with a bio module which is just a place for lots of bacteria to grow. Because my tank is established and I have never had an ammonia problem replacing the ammonia remover with the bio module shouldn't be a problem, should it?

SHouldnt have a problem with takeing that out. I have a 110 sponge, carbon, and the bio rocks in my 90 gall and its fine. You can even take out the carbon and replace that with another sponge. I keep the carbon in mine since the fish in my tank can stink up. The more bacteria the better.
