Hi all I'm a saltwater tank guy and was handed a handful of parrot cichlids the other day. I have a 130 gal tank that will now be the new home to these guys.
My question is what brand and size of filter is good for this size tank? I have no clue as I've been into protein skimmers for years never had a canister before.

I would recommend a fluval canister filter. I personally have never had one, but would love to have one. Cichlids are dirty fish so the more cleaning power you can get the better off they will be.

Ok after some searching and reading alot. I narrowed my search to 3 filters.

Rena Fillstar XP3

Eheim 2028

Marineland C360

Any comments or opinions on the best choice of these three?

i would go with ehiem. they are the easiest to work with out of the three. also lately we have been having lots of returns on rena filters (expecially the xp3) marinland is always a good choice but its kinda basic compared to ehiem. the ehiem also has a much longer life then most canisters! so yea i would do ehiem!!

I went with the Eheim.

Thanx for the advice.

Got it from Big Al's used there price match policy and got an extra 5 % off.

Now I have a couple more bucks for fishies

I'll try and post some pic's after I get it set up. Or of the set up process.

Heck I might even include pic's of my salt water tank for fun.
