If you like to personalize your tank with caves and things, rather than getting those cheesy castles from the pet store. You might want to look at the stuff in your kitchen or basement that you never use. old coffee mugs, glassware, ceramic bowls, coins, jewelry, beads, rocks/sticks in your back yard are just a few things. Just keep in mind whatever it is you should rinse it out well, and make sure there isn't any sharp edges your fish could get cut on. at the same time make sure it's not something that will change the ph level of the tank. anything made of glass, ceramic, plastic, or silicon is very safe. Once I took an old coffee mug and some glass beads I had laying around in a bag in my attic. I found some silicon laminant I used maybe once for my bath tub wall and glued the beads on the coffee mug along with some rocks from my drive way. it ended up looking like a nice little cave for my beta.
