While it's true that gravity bends space-time, the effect of a few hundred pounds would be impossible to measure with present technology. The bending effect, however, can be precisely measured in our very own solar system. In fact, one of the things that got Big Al to thinking about such things was the failure of Newtonian physics to accurately predict the orbits of the planets surrounding our insignificant little star. Astronauts orbiting our planet for a few days at 17kmph, in fact, age a few seconds less than the rest of us. Thus, taxes are maybe not too bad when you consider that they fund scientific research.
