one of my fish recently had a fungus infection, i used a medicine that is supposed to work in 7 days, but it actually took 14 days of treatment to finally get rid of the white cotton-like tufts, especially on one spot.

The fungus has been gone for about 3 wks, but now there's a bump growing at the spot that had the lingering fungus tuft. The aquarium store said it was a fluke or worm infection, and sold me a bottle of prazipro.

I'm 95% sure i read the instructions to state that 1 tsp for my 20 gallon tank will last 5-7 days, but I'm not 100% sure if it means to add one tsp then it can last 5-7 days, or add 1 tsp each day for 5-7 days. Does someone know for sure? also, it states that i can repeat every 3-5 days. does this mean the medicine can theoretically treat for 5-7 days on one dose, but it is allowable to add another tsp every 3-5 days? So what should i do? Add 1tsp today, then 1tsp in 3 days, and then 1 tsp 3 days later? Or add 1 tsp now, then wait 5-7 days, and if no improvement, then add 1 more tsp every 3-5 days?

I realize these quesitons seem complicated and confusing - it's just the bottle does not state these facts very clearly.

Thanks for any advice you can offer,

I suspect the 'cotton-like tufts' were not a true fungus, but rather a disease called Flavobacterium Columnare (Flex.) Once the fuzzy patches are gone they leave behind lesions/ulcers inwhich a secondary bacterial infection can set in. Lump/bump that suddenly appear are bacterial infections (like a boil), not fluke or worm infections. The bump will resolve *itself* by rupture, like a boil. To keep from reinfection, you should feed an antibiotic medicated food for 10 days. Once the bump ruptures, leaving an open wound (if the fish is large enough), the wound can be cleaned once a day with peroxide (keeping it away from eyes and gills), and neosporia cream rubbed into the wound.

I would take it back, besides, if it were flukes or worms, something like Fluke-Tabs works in two days.

If I haven't talked you out of useing the Prazipro, the dose is one tsp per 20 gal. - *then* day 5 - 7, you can redose. ......... Frank
