what are appropriate "human" foods to feed guppies? the other night i was eating and sliced apple and gave tiny tiny pieces to my fish and they LOVED it. and then next day i gave them celery and they LOVED that too and then yesterday i gave them corn, and they also loved that.

are there foods even good for guppies? i hope so because they really enjoyed them.

Sorry It sounds like a good idea, but .........

Commercial fish foods are often made with fish meal and various grains, but they are formulated, by professionals, for near perfect nutrition. Some people even thaw out frozen peas, smush the contents from the shells, and give them to their fish once a week or so. Although aquarium fish may eat a variety of people foods, it can't be doing them much good. Fruit, for example, is high in sugar, and some vegetables are high in starch. None of that stuff will give fish a balanced diet, some of it could make them sick, and most of it will pollute aquarium water. It's best to stick with commercial foods prepared specifically for your fish. You can save some money buying flake and frozen foods in larger quantities from the on line aquarium shops.
