its algae. it may go away with water changes or there is this one fish known to eat it thats a "Flying Fox". how big is your tank and what else is in it?

Welcome to the forum!

If it's not algae... it could be decomposing uneaten food... Which needs to be removed immediately.

Is it on the bottom,in spots? Or a long area? Or on the walls and plants?

It's just from the tank cycling don't worry about it. I don't think its harmful to your fish.

Welcome to our forum. Since your aquarium is not yet fully cycled, you may need to do frequent, partial water changes. Have you tested for ammonia? A tank that has completed its nitrogen cycle should have zero ammonia and nitrites.

As fur the fur, it grows because the tank has too many nutrients and not enough good cooties to eat them. Cootie, by the way, is a technical term I learned in grade school during WWII. It refers to the colony of beneficial bacteria associated with cycling. Some types of algae are tough to get rid of even after the cootie cycle. It usually grows in aquariums that receive direct sun light. Live, floating plants will help control it.
