hi, i was wondering if blue gouramis and angelfish are compatable. i have a 55 gal planted tank at home, and i think angelfish are beautiful! oh yeah all five of my gouramis are female and i also have seven cory catfish, my tank also has tons of hiding places. will angelfish chase around my gouramis? or visa-versa? thanx.

Yep..and yep.
Your Angels may chase the gourami's..but actually...your gourami's will nip the fins of your angels. Probably doing more damage. They are pretty notorious for that. I personally wouldn't put the two together. Been my expereince..even though some people may say otherwise.
Dwarf gourami's are a bit more peaceful.
The cory's will be fine with the angels though.

As JohnA has stated before..you can find nice used tanks at Yard sales..or even just checking with freinds..sometimes someone has small ones they will give away. If you could find say a 29 gal...you could put maybe four angels in there for awhile. ...*hint..*hint*

Now now Dizzie,
Are you trying to get another person hooked on angels, like the rest of us!

I'm not very experienced at keeping fish to be giving any real sound advice but I was wondering this same question since I wanted a Gourami and My wife wanted a Black Angelfish. I got a small Pearl Gourami first, that one is pretty shy. Then maybe a week or 2 later got the small Black Angelfish. They seem to get along really well keeping to themselves and a lot of the time together when the Tetras are on their daily rampage. Both fish are still pretty young so it may change as they get older.. who knows. But I have seen no signs of any nipping of fins from or on any of my fish other then what has healed from the pet store.

When they grow up, the Pearl Gouramis and the Angelfish will be quite large. Each adult Angelfish needs about ten gallons of aquarium space, and they can be very aggressive. Aquarium fish originate from all sorts of different environments, and many have incompatible requirements and behavior patterns. This holds true even for farm raised or aquarium raised species.

Good to know. I will keep a strict eye on them and if I start to see any aggression, it will be a good enough reason for my wife to let me get another tank.

I have 2 dwarf gouramis, and they are the WORST fin nippers I have ever seen lol. IMO, I wouldn't try the angels. One of my gouramis pestered one of the other gouramis to death....
