Hi again all,

I have a major problem. I put 3 oxygen plants in my tank on saturday and have just noticed that their growing roots half way up the plant. What do i do now? Also how do you keep the things alive? Their costing me a small fortune now and if i can avoid going over to co2 id prefer it

It seems like growing roots would be a good thing, but what is an oxygen plant? The common language strikes again. Adding a carbon dioxide system will help plants grow, but it can also mess with aquarium chemistry. Somewhere in all the posting there is quite a discussion about it. You can make a basic carbon dioxide system with a two litre pop bottle, some air hose, an air stone, water, sugar and yeast.

Post a picture if you want; maybe somebody will give you another name for oxygen plant.

Heres the plant im talking about. I have no idea what it is except an oxygen plant . Also the roots are growing half way up the plant. Hence why i dont know what to do

to keep ur plant alive u have to provide or buy a co2 diffuser.and at the same time u should keep in mind that whether u provide them sunlight or not..

That plant is an anacarus, and I don't know how to spell the word. Oxygen plant is a better word and not so technical. At the five and dime, they used to sell it for goldfish tanks. I have it floating in several aquariums, and the roots are normal. The stuff is a little more difficult than hornwort, but you must have a healthy batch.
