I have a small tropical aquarium (32l) just bought a new one 120l - yeah very excited, waiting for it to be delivered! no-one told me how addicted this could be.

However, I am very confused I do water changes every week and test my water, I have 4 neons, 2 danios, a loach and a clown loach. I did have 4 platies,(had for about 4 months) but over the last month, each one has died, they start resting on the bottom alot but still feeding, seem to develop a small lump on their back (in the same place, not sure if this is them getting thin) they dont have any spots/mouth fine etc, got an experienced friend of mine to check them out and he said they looked fine. It happened one after the other they were not ill at the same time. When they were poorly I was doing water changes every other day just in case it was the water, but made no difference.

All the other fish are okay, it has only effected the platies.

Thank you in advance for any feedback.

Welcome to the hobby, and welcome to this website.

Platies are pretty sensitive to being moved, and they're really not suitable tank mates for your other fish. The next time you add fish, use the drip acclimation method to reduce shock. Drip acclimation is described in one of the blogs. It's easy. Since you're fairly new to the hobby, please try to avoid common mistakes like over feeding, over crowding, incompatible species, and believing everything you hear at the aquarium shop.
