How fast are bn plecos supposed to grow?

How fast are baby bushy nose plecos supposed to grow? Also, when do the males start getting their bristles? I have had my babies for about 3-4 months and the largest are only about two inches and there are no noticeable bristles. They are beginning to show some territorial behavior though. The little guys are eating tropical flake, Malaysian driftwood, and zucchini. What else can I do? If they are all females then I do have a male I can pair them with.

If I'm not mistaken, they reach spawning age at about 8 months. If yours are 2" they're getting close.

Ususally you can tell the males. They get little bumps all along their mouth. If you don't get any bumps in another month or two, then you've got females.

Another way is that the females will get very fat. The eggs of BN are quite large. You can tell that way also.

Thank you so much for replying. I have at least one maybe two that I think may be male. A couple more are smaller and look sorta ladylike, though I can't really describe how I came to that conclusion. Sometimes I see a bigger one with a smaller one and the bigger one is twitching its tale at it. Is that territorial or spawning behavior?

It actually may be neither. I have a bunch of them. They don't eat their babies, they're really pretty good.

Sometimes if there's more than one male... they'll try to make ranks... Establish seniority.

They may just be hanging out. As long as they're not like beating on each other, you should be fine. A lot of times they'll stay close, then one will jet to someplace else.
