I thought I got all male guppies how do I tell the difference between male an female as one pair r following each other an doing what looks like a fancy mating dance
One of the easiest ways to tell the gender of guppies is the color variations. Male guppies will have much brighter colors than the females. Its actually very noticeable.
The way to tell the apart is the fin that is next to their rear. If the fin looks like a fan it is a female fish and if it looks like a little line it is a male. The female fish also have a graved spot when it turns black and get more larger that is how you tell she is going to have babies.
thats a female guppy
I rilly want to now about the mather Guppy?
My female fancy guppy just had babies two days ago and I didn't notice. I haven't done anything with them as in separating the babies and parents because I know they eat them and stuff. Ive fed them tetraMin tropical flakes crushed to small powdered flakes. Now I notice the my female is pregnant again. How do I stop her from having babies. My tank is so full of lil guppies now and they seem to keep coming.
Healthy female guppies will continue having babies all their life. The only way to stop it is to separate the males and females, but a female can continue having babies several times after the males have been removed.
Well my female guppy and my male guppy are brother and sister. Do you know if the affects the fry in any way?
It doesn't "hurt" them to inbreed, but it does increase the risk for defects. And as soon as she is old enough, they will start having little fry! It doesn't take long to get an army, so be prepared!
you can recognize them by this pic its a male
Males are more colorful and their anal fin is longer and pointed like a stick. The female has almostno color on her body but might have color on her tail. Her anal fin looks like a fan. The first picture is a male, the second is a female.
The only way your going to stop her and her young when they are old enough from breeding is to remove the females and put them in a separate tank. then if you wish you can breed certain colors together in a third tank that is what I am planning on doing myself I am going to breed only certain colors to see if I can get the colors I want.
well the femal ones are 5% no prittyer then the boys the boys are prittyer then the girls so the can show off to the girls in colour:
