When I lived in Texas, it was necessary to say light bub, because not everybody could understand "bulb." Besides, if you didn't say things like yonder, light bub and monkey ranch, people would easily be able to tell you were a kid from Indiana, which was not always a good thing in a part of the country where they were still mad about the Civil War. All that aside, this really is a post about aquariums.
Once when I bought a 15 gallon tank in a yard sale, it came with one of those inexpensive hoods that uses regular light bubs. I screwed in some 40 watt equivalent compact fluorescent bulbs, and the plants seem to like it. They're just garden variety compact fluorescent bulbs, so what does that do to all the business about proper light wave lengths for plant growth? Does it say that cheap lights are just as good as expensive ones?
