How strange... the pictures and a video were there last night...

Let me repost...

This is the video... As I said... just ignore the sound, or turn it down... LOL! My first video!!! YAY!!!

Then the pics...

Also... tonight Emily somehow got over into Jack's side... I'm not sure how it happened... I made sure the divider was up high so they couldn't jump over... She was hiding in the plants when I found her... But he didn't rip her up or kill her... so I took that as a good sign...

Just go rescue some! It's really easy... The pet stores have them just wasting away in those little cups... You just HAVE to take one home...

I was just reading... That it's only good to buy bettas from breeders... And you need to buy 2 pairs in case the first won't breed, or one dies... and they're all supposed to be from the same spawn... i.e. brothers and sisters. The site actually also says that breeding pet store bettas is not good, almost like a joke, and DON'T do it...

So... Since I'm entirely new to the idea of having bettas... let alone breeding bettas... ( But you can bet your sweet Bippee that I'm going to try )... So what are your opinions? How do you feel about the Pet store bettas?

Now... in saying that... I looked over the bettas really well, it must have been a rather new shipment... but these 2 were VERY active in their little cups... no listing... I don't think I would have tried with a non active one.

That being said... I really LOVE the bettas, they're just so beautiful!

Also... some way or another Emily got on Jacks side of the tank... ME FREAKING out... I had the divider up so they couldn't jump over and everything... No idea how the female houdini pulled that off... But anyways... He didn't kill her... So I think that's a good sign! I figured I'd give them a few weeks and then try the breeding thing...

A few months ago, Aquarium Fish Magazine had a good article about fish farms, which probably raise most of the fish sold to the big pet shops. It seems that the fish farms would have to know quite a bit about fish keeping, so most of their fish should be pretty healthy. On the other hand, some but certainly not all pet shop employees know or care very little about the aquarium hobby. Even if they start out with good fish, the poor things sometimes get really stressed before you buy them. I especially don't like those glorified shot glasses they keep Bettas in. If you get them right after the fish arrive at the pet shop, they may be in better condition than they will a week later. A stressed or sick fish usually shows at least some symptoms, so a close inspection is always a good idea. You can avoid additional stress by using the drip acclimation technique to introduce them their new aquarium.

i have saved all my bettas from stores even like 3 from meijer and 2 from walmart and the others are from petstores or fishstores, i think that your bettas male could be like 3 or 4 months old and i dont know about the female (you cant tell on females)but most any aged females will breed but do you see how the female has verticle strips on her side that shows that she may be ready but i would wait like a week and once he goes up to her wiggles and swimms away then stops and looks back he is trying to get her under the nest and you can release her but watch them

i will come back on tonight and finish my tips (have to go to the store)
