It is exactly what it seems. You can have your reef tank lightening move from one end to the other.

I’ve tried to find an explanation from an expert and reached That Fish Blog:

By moving your light source, you can maximize the potential of an individual light fixture, by covering far more area with maximum light output vs. a stationary light source

The idea is to mimic the natural changes of the light in nature and the sun’s movement. There are no indications that I’ve heard of on the influence that such a moving light has on actual reef tanks but one thin for sure it creates a fascinating games of changing lights and shadows.
