The only sure way to distinguish angelfish gender is to look at their spawning equipment, which gets deployed only when they are ready to spawn. As that time approaches, they will go through several rituals like twitching, lip locking, cleaning off a spawning place, etc. As a general rule, males are larger than females, but there are always exceptions. Most people who want to get a spawning pair of angelfish will buy a half dozen juveniles and let them work out the gender business as they mature. You also need at least two aquariums, and you need to decide when and how to separate the eggs/fry from the parents. Raising angelfish is a fascinating hobby; if you're really interested in it, I can walk you through some of the steps. If you're near Phoenix, I'll even give you enough angelfish to get started.

No... I'm not that interested in trying to breed angelfish. however, I do want to breed guppies. I heard there really easy and I know a lot of people that would want them. But angelfish are hard to maintain I cant even imagine the amount of work it takes to breed them. Also, I'm not looking to setup any more tanks. Right now, I'm working on setting up a 10 gallon but I don't think i could maintain anymore than that.

For an old geezer like me, taking care of 22 aquariums is a challenge, but it's fun. By the way, the angelfish in my 25 tall just spawned. I hope they don't eat their eggs this time.
