I have 10 kirbensis. the one in question is a boy he has claimed this one cave for himself just the other day and every time another fish comes near it he fights them fiercely. then there is a girl in question, she and the male have been fighting each other the most over this cave and now they are both fighting to protect the cave. I can't rightly tell whats going on here because from what I read the female is usually the one to find and defend a cave for breeding and the male is suppose to sit and let the girls fight over him. whats also weird is yesterday they were trying to kill each other and now they're buddy buddy. does anyone know whats going on here exactly.

It's just love. Mating rituals can get sort of violent. If you have a place to put the rest of the fish, it may be a good idea. The cave may already have eggs, and the parents will be very aggressive about defending them.

Ok, I have no input, except to tell you that really, really made me laugh! I get THE BEST mental pic seeing little shrimp thingys raring up and battling it out. Ok, sorry, but thanks for the laugh!
