my gold fish has ick. and i touched him can i get ick in my skin. if i dont wash my hands after i finsih touching him???
can people get ick?
Ich is a parasite that lives on fish. It probably cannot invade a human host, but maybe you should wash your hands just for extra caution. Diseases and parasites usually take advantage of fish that have compromised immune systems. That happens if the aquarium has any ammonia or nitrite or when the fish get a shock from being moved too quickly. The best thing to do now is check the water for ammonia and nitrite (both should be zero) and do a 20 or 30 percent partial water change. After that, some ich medications are very effective when used exactly as recommended by the instructions. Using any sort of medication runs the risk of damaging beneficial bacteria, so be careful.
thank you but my fished died
Sorry to hear that.
Was the aquarium cycled, and did it get regular, partial water changes? Those two things are pretty important to fish health, so if you need more information, just ask.
Aww, sorry to hear about your fish.
ohh thank you he was my first gold fish and i had for 4 years and i really loved him. im gunna have his funeral this weekend. teehee
I will also be having a funeral this weekend. No fun...
Did you put other new fish in the tank? How did he get ich?
i dont know how he got ick but i bought some fansy male guppies and i guess they cant live with goldfishes so they got my goldfish sick. and then the guppies got sick and died too.
i still didnt have the funeral for my goldfish he is still in my freezer its pretty creeping looking at him in the contaner. so yeah i havent gotton new fishes yet. i dont think im ready to have new ones. and my mom says that i have to wait. so yeah what type of fish did you have???
Goldfish do best in cool water, and Guppies do best in warmer water. Before buying any more fish, do some research about the species you would like to keep. Google is a good place to start.
+1 for John.
TeeHee~ I had a Black Ghost Knifefish, he was my baby...
omg i want one of those there so cool lokking. when i mom says we can get new fishes i want one of those or a dragon fish i like weried fishes and things. teehee
Teehee, you may already know this, but I have to say it just in case. Be aware that Dragon Fish, or Violet Goby, are brackish water fish. Pet stores almost always sell them as freshwater fish saying they can be both. They can, for a little while, until their body just can't take the improper conditions any longer and they die, ending a short unhappy, unhealthy life. Sorry, I know I come off a little hard on the matter, but alot of people buy these fish, among many other aquatic critters, only for them to die because the pet store didn't give them the correct information. The Violet Goby also requires sand instead of gravel, very selective tank mates as they can't see well and tend to get picked on, and an absolute minimum of a 30 gallon tank. Like I said, perhaps you knew all this, and I'm certainly not saying you couldn't care for them if you wanted, I just wanted to make sure you were aware.

Don't get a knife fish unless you can get a 75 gallon or more tank, because they grow to about 18 inches.
wow,even i don't know that they can grow about 18 inch.lol
um ok i guess i wont get one. i dont want to kill any fishes. but yeah i want to get a gold fish that has big bubblely eyes i think there cool lokking. or mayby ill get a diffenrtnt kind of fish that can live with diffent other fishes :3
i want a puffer fish
i hoe does a beta fish attack each other? do they have teeth? or how and what do they do?
Puffers are really interesting fish, but they have some special requirements and should not be kept with other species. Male Bettas cannot share an aquarium with other Bettas. They do, however, get along with a few other species. Choices of potential tankmates are limited.
Goldfish are very adaptable and do fine with other goldfish. It's probably not a good idea to keep them with tropical fish.

And some bettas should not be kept with any tankmates, because they can be agressive. The pic you posted is a crown-tail betta, and yes, they have teeth . I love my bettas, but they really are alot of work. They are really funny and have great personalities.
The goldfish you were talking about with the bubble eyes; were you thinking the black moor goldfish? They used to creep me out, but I really like them now! Remember that goldfish are colder water fish, and should not be kept with tropical fish.
yeah i know. i wasnt gunna put the puffer fish with a gold fish i just want one. and yeah i was talking about the black gold fish but theres some that are not black and there spoted and there awsome i love big eyeball goldfishes . thats cool i learnd something new again i never knew betta fishes have teeth. so if i put 2 males theyll bite each other??? i will not get to bettas. i just want to know how theyll attack each other
Two males bettas will fight until one dies.
Is the other goldfish you like the ryunkin?
yeah but i want one with big bubble eyes too
i want a gold fish that is clear
