My gold mystery snail is not in his shell. I thought they were attached. Has he died and if so where is the body. I just saw him moving around 2 days ago.

So far as i know, mystery snails cannot live without their shell. They're very sensitive to copper, so you need to use something like Kordon Rid Metals to neutralise it. They also need a calcium supplement for healthy shell growth. An easy way to provide calcium is to add a small hunk of cuddle bone like they use in bird cages.

Correct, mystery/apple snails cannot live without their shells. There is a muscle in there that will tear sometimes, and they can't heal that. Sorry about your snail.
