There is white almost rice looking things coming out of my black mystery snail. There is a little bit on her and some are at the surface of the tank. What are they and should I clean my tank? If they are eggs how should I care for them.

Normally, mystery snails place a clutch of eggs above the waterline. The clutch is shaped something like a wasp nest and is ivory colored with possibly a purple tint. What you describe could be eggs, but the ones under water will drown.

Mystery snails need a full hood on the aquarium and about two inches above the water to lay their eggs. You may want to drain some of the water to leave room for eggs, and be sure the hood is tight fitting.

Female mystery snails can lay several clutches of eggs after only one contact with a male. The eggs usually hatch within two weeks, and the little snails fall into the water.

No. The other snail may eat any of the eggs that drown but should not bother live snails. There is one exception called an assassin snail. They do eat other snails but are not very common in aquariums. The chances of importing one by accident are slim.

Good afternoon. My daughters just realized a couple of clutches that have been in our tank. I have a question what happens if you don't have a close fitting? How many clutches will she put? I have female golden apple snail and a blue mystery snail just found out tht he is a male. I have seen them stuck together for hours. My question is I have a lot of fishes and 2 loaches what will happen if the snails do hatch? Do I need to worry about my fishes? How does the cluster of eggs look after they have hatched? Can u please help me in answering my questions. Thank u in advanced.
