I have a pregnant neon tetra do I need to separate it from the others will they eat the babies.

They are an egg layer and so will not 'give birth' to any 'babies'

From memory they are an egg scatterer [sp]

When they spawn the males and females dash around like mad laying eggs and dropping sperm and the eggs settle to the bottom where anything and everything will eat them!

So they need to spawn in a tank by themselves, and you will need to remove them afterwards to protect the eggs....

You will have to set up a breeding tank if you want to try to raise any fry. There are a lot more easyer fish to breed than neons. With neon and cardinal tetras, even if their parents were tank raised, they are still one of the more difficult tetras to breed - highly unlikely to breed in your community tank......... Frank
