for your 20 gallon tank the mollies and bettas don't create any problem but the problem is the huge no of snail...your ammonia and nitrate level will go high due to their waste...so either keep small no of snail or keep your aquarium very clean..in this case do 50% water change every 3 days, and siphon it daily...

You can control snail populations by baiting them. Put a hunk of lettuce in the aquarium for a couple of evenings, then throw away the lettuce and the snails clinging to it. Repeat until you have achieved the desired population control. NEVER RELEASE FISH, PLANTS, OR SNAILS INTO THE WILD.

John os right for the clown loach alone you had better start thinking about doubleing your tank size at a minimum. They get to about a foot long but their also about 6 inches wide. Also you should never keep just one of these. If your lucky you can get away with 2 but 3 or more is best.

I was told to get a clown loach and it got rid of my snail problem. Wow! I had no idea though they can get as big as you say..That's scary, mine is only a couple inches! I have a 55 gal I just put pics in the gemstone thread. Why is it not good to have only one loach??

If you're talking about the 20 gallon tank, it seems over crowded already. The Clown Loaches will soon need a much larger aquarium, and the Mollies will need more room too once they start to reproduce. When the biological load gets too big, you risk upsetting the balance of the aquarium; please do regular checks for ammonia and nitrite.

You will want to house your dwarf puffers with their own kind since they are aggressive fish.

If the aquarium is large enough, all you need to do is add a pair of angelfish. Of course, some aquarium shops will also take guppies. They're great aquarium fish, and the population explosion shows your aquarium is healthy.

Hmm I think the best way to get rid of them is to give them to a buddy with a big fish and just use them as feeders or Buy a big fish and just toss him in the tank and let him have a feast.

haha i just noticed something funny.... BarptProductions and fishycrackerz images almost look the same. Split personalities Or possibly A mirror universe. Wooo Wooo Scary Yah? LOL Just kidding, it does have a striking resemblence though.

Well i can see now why they would look the same.I guess i must have missed some post with that being mentioned.

I dont know, I guess everyone has a different point of view as what "cruel" is. But to me feeding live fish to bigger fish is them eatting naturally and it keeps there instincts in tack So to me I look at it as being a natural process of Life. But yah just buying a big fish to get rid of the smaller ones would be. Maybe that is what you all are refering to as "cruel"? If so, yah That was just me jokeing around and didn't expect anyone to take that comment seriously.

All of us have different opinions, and that's just fine so long as we state them in a polite manner, as I believe you did. I remember a long discussion about euthanizing fish; talk about opinions
