A small aquarium like that should take only a couple of weeks. You can greatly reduce that time by adding gravel or decorations from an established aquarium. Floating a bunch of hornwort will also help.

I've decided to have some bettas too. They are really neat and have different personalities. I have a crowntail now and am planning to get a Half Moon.

Check out Aquabid.com. Sooner or later you can find just about any aquarium fish or plant you like. Of course, you'll have to pay shipping charges, and if you live in a warm city like Phoenix, you may have to wait for the cooler months.

The really expensive bettas on aquabid.com like the ones that are $100 plus aren't really that pretty in my opinion. In fact, the cheaper ones are much more desirable. But that's just my opinion.

yeah i know what you mean...i mostly just like looking at the different kinds and colors on those sites..
Yeah, just some of the local chain petstores often have gorgeous ones! Petco has the best, in my opinion, and from what i've seen...

Just curious, i've asked my friends, who are avid betta owners, and also breed them, what color type they think my male (in profile pic) is..could he be a chocolate?
There are SO many amazing color types!

yeah im a breeder too and love halfmoons but there so expensive. they have them in petco but most of the time there not true halfmoons its rare to find a real one in pet stores. the ones that are over $100 on aquabid are worth it though because it has to do with genes and type and lines and size. also true solid pure black bettas have a tendensy to have short lives and only live for less then a year for some reasone...yes i would say that the one in your picture is a chocolate mustard vailtail ::

Some of the fish sold on Aquabid.com are show quality and very expensive. They are usually from very serious hobbyists. Still, they have some bargains, especially if you get flat rate shipping.
